Monson is a census-designated place (CDP) in Tulare County, California. Monson sits at an elevation of 325 feet (99 m). The 2010 United States census reported Monson's population was 188.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP covers an area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km), all of it land.

Demographics

At the 2010 census Monson had a population of 188. The population density was 382.3 inhabitants per square mile (147.6/km). The racial makeup of Monson was 121 (64.4%) White, 1 (0.5%) African American, 5 (2.7%) Native American, 4 (2.1%) Asian, 0 (0.0%) Pacific Islander, 57 (30.3%) from other races, and 0 (0.0%) from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 147 people (78.2%).

The whole population lived in households, no one lived in non-institutionalized group quarters and no one was institutionalized.

There were 49 households, 21 (42.9%) had children under the age of 18 living in them, 32 (65.3%) were opposite-sex married couples living together, 6 (12.2%) had a female householder with no husband present, 4 (8.2%) had a male householder with no wife present. There were 3 (6.1%) unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 0 (0%) same-sex married couples or partnerships. 6 households (12.2%) were one person and 3 (6.1%) had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 3.84. There were 42 families (85.7% of households); the average family size was 4.00.

The age distribution was 58 people (30.9%) under the age of 18, 30 people (16.0%) aged 18 to 24, 43 people (22.9%) aged 25 to 44, 36 people (19.1%) aged 45 to 64, and 21 people (11.2%) who were 65 or older. The median age was 27.2 years. For every 100 females, there were 102.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 113.1 males.

There were 52 housing units at an average density of 105.7 per square mile, of the occupied units 27 (55.1%) were owner-occupied and 22 (44.9%) were rented. The homeowner vacancy rate was 3.4%; the rental vacancy rate was 4.3%. 105 people (55.9% of the population) lived in owner-occupied housing units and 83 people (44.1%) lived in rental housing units.
