Musi Banyuasin
The administrative centre of Musi Banyuasin Regency is the town of Sekayu.
Geography
The regency, which covers fifteen percent of the area of South Sumatra Province, is located between 1.3° to 4° South latitude and from 103° to 104°40′ East longitude. It is bordered to the north by Jambi Province, to the south by the new Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency, to the west by Musi Rawas Regency and North Musi Rawas Regency, and to the east by Banyuasin Regency.
Administrative districts
As at 2010, Musi Banyuasin Regency was subdivided into eleven districts (kecamatan), but a further three districts were created in 2011 (Lawang Wetan, Babat Supat and Tungkal Jaya), and another one in 2017 (Jirak Jaya). These 15 are all listed below with their revised areas (in km) and their populations at the 2010 Census and the 2020 Census, together with the official estimates as at mid 2023. The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number of administrative villages in each district (totaling 227 rural desa and 13 urban kelurahan), and its post codes.

Musi Banyuasin Regency consists of 4 kinds of soil:
- Organosol: along the swamp and in the plain area

Climate
Musi Banyuasin Regency has tropic and wet season with variation of rainfall between 39.00 and 297.25 mm, for the year 2007 December has highest rank of rainfalls. Rain days in 2007 tend to vary between 2.75 and 15.25 days with January having highest rank of rain days.
