Osek (Písek District)
Osek (German: Wosek) is a municipality and village in Písek District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 100 inhabitants.
Osek lies approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi) north-east of Písek, 54 km (34 mi) north of České Budějovice, and 72 km (45 mi) south of Prague.
Etymology
Osek is a common Czech toponymy. The word osek denotes a cut trunk, but it also could mean a cut forest.
