Paippad

Paippad is a census town in the Changanassery Taluk of the Kottayam district in Kerala. It is also the headquarters of the Paippad gram panchayat.

Demographics

As per the 2011 Indian census, Paippad has a total population of 21,338, a 10.6% decline from the 19,281 registered in 2001. This is in contrast to most of the surrounding areas, which registered population declines during the same period. 9.2% of the population is under 6 years of age. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes constitute 11.3% and 0.1% of the population respectively. The total literacy rate was 97.7% (97.98% for males and 97.45% for females), which is higher than the state average of 94% and the national average of 74.04%.

Paippad is also famous for being the second largest residential space for north Indian migrant workforce after Ernakulam.
