Plougonvelin

Plougonvelin (French pronunciation: [pluɡɔ̃vlɛ̃]; Breton: Plougonvelen) is a commune in the Finistère department of Brittany in north-western France.

Climate

Plougonvelin has an oceanic climate (Köppen climate classification Cfb). The average annual temperature in Plougonvelin is 12.5 °C (54.5 °F). The average annual rainfall is 640.5 mm (25.22 in) with December as the wettest month. The temperatures are highest on average in August, at around 17.5 °C (63.5 °F), and lowest in February, at around 7.8 °C (46.0 °F). The highest temperature ever recorded in Plougonvelin was 34.6 °C (94.3 °F) on 12 July 1983; the coldest temperature ever recorded was −9.8 °C (14.4 °F) on 21 February 1948.

Breton language

The municipality launched a plan for the Breton language through Ya d'ar brezhoneg on 16 June 2005. In 2008, 8.44% of primary-school children attended bilingual schools.
