Shavur District

Shavur District (Persian: بخش شاوور) is in Karkheh County, Khuzestan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Shavur.

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 National Census, the district's population (as a part of Shush County) was 62,617 in 9,841 households. The following census in 2011 counted 69,051 people in 15,291 households, by which time the village of Rashg-e Shavur had been elevated to the status of the city of Shavur. The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 70,071 inhabitants in 18,263 households.

In September 2019, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Karkheh County, and Karkha Rural District was created in the district.
