This template is used to produce a phonetic or phonemic representation (using the IPA system) of Hungarian words or sounds, using natural spelling to avoid the need to search for the correct phonetic symbols. The result is wikilinked to Help:IPA for Hungarian. Optionally, an audio file can also be specified.

The number of parameters is always limited to 33.

Normal usage:

• {{IPAc-hu|'|l|á|sz|l|ó|-|'|t|ő|k|é|s}} produces [ˈlaːsloː ˈtøːkeːʃ]

Geminated consonants shall be written together and assimilations shall be written as pronounced:

• {{IPAc-hu|'|b|á|tty|a}} produces [ˈbaːcːɒ]
• {{IPAc-hu|'|f|u|d|b|a|ll}} produces [ˈfudbɒlː]

Some nasal place assimilations should be written together (nf, mf, nv, mv, nk, ng, nty, ngy)

• {{IPAc-hu|'|k|ü|l|ö|nf|é|l|e}} produces [ˈkyløɱfeːlɛ]
• {{IPAc-hu|'|p|i|nty}} produces [ˈpiɲc]

With an audio file:

• {{IPAc-hu|AUD|Hu-Budapest.ogg|'|b|u|d|a|p|e|s|t}} produces [ˈbudɒpɛʃt]

To change the delimiters (for example, if several instances of the template need to be strung together because of the limit on the number of parameters):

• {{IPAc-hu|[-|'|b|u|d|a|p|e|s|t}} produces [ˈbudɒpɛʃt

The full range of special values for the first parameter (changing the delimiters and/or specifying that the next parameter is an audio file) is as follows:

Hungarian letters and di/trigraphs will be converted into the corresponding IPA symbols. The following parameters have special meanings:

• - (hyphen) for a space between words
• ' (apostrophe) for a primary stress mark (placed before the stressed syllable)
• , (comma) for a secondary stress mark
