  1. The article displays little or no information when {{Infobox power station}} is added to the top of an article.
    Information about the particular power station may not be added to Wikidata yet, or may not have been added correctly. Click on the "Edit on Wikidata" button on the bottom of the infobox to add or modify the necessary data. Refer to the Parameters table above for structuring format.
  2. The Wikidata entry is accurate, but I want to override one or more parameter(s) on a particular article.
    You may add the necessary parameter name and value to force a local value. See the #Standard usage section above.
  3. I want to add unique (i.e. localised) information to a particular article, but creating a whole new parameter is redundant.
    This infobox supports up to 5 special parameters in the form of |ps_label1= and |ps_data1=. You may use it for a custom label and value. The values will be appended before the "Power generation" section.
  4. I'm not comfortable with using data from Wikidata, as that is a separate wiki and I cannot monitor changes in my local watchlist.

The HTML markup produced by this template includes an hCard microformat, which makes the place-name and location parsable by computers, either acting automatically to catalogue articles across Wikipedia, or via a browser tool operated by a person, to (for example) add the subject to an address book.
