Template:LDSmap
{{temple template|format=LDSmap}}
is used in place of "mark=" value. Use of this template is recommended since the status can change several times after the temple's announcement.
Examples
mark={{LDS Temple/Casper Wyoming Temple|format=LDSmap}}
mark={{Casper Temple|format=LDSmap}}
The first example uses the page for the individual temple. The second example links to a redirect that redirects to the source template. Redirects may be used to shorten amount of text in page for easier editing.
Within location map template
The following are values that can be used in {{Location map+}} and {{Location map~}}. For more information on these values, see the respective template pages.
{{Location map+ | {{{1}}} = | width = | float = | border = | caption = | alt = | relief = | AlternativeMap = | overlay_image = | places = }} |
{{Location map~ | {{{1}}} =<--map being used (must match Location map+)--> | label =<--label of temple, include wikilink--> | label_size =<--used to reduce size, if needed (default=91)--> | position =<--label position: left, right, top, or bottom--> | background = | mark =<--Use {{temple template|format=LDSmap}}--> | marksize =<--used to reduce size, if needed (default=8)--> | link = | lat =<--in decimal degrees--> | long =<--in decimal degrees--> }} |
Site location
Site location is typically estimated within announced city until location is officially announced. For most temples, this will be the only time location changes. Difference between location in city and specific site is generally negligible. For maps that are further zoomed in such as metros, small states and countries, difference between announced city placement and site location can become more noticeable. It is recommended when transferring to or editing these maps to verify coordinates of these temples. All temples in operation or under construction as of June 2021 have accurate coordinates for location.
Status colors
Temples
Use this template for the following temples:
Red = Operating (this includes limited operations in which temple at least in some degree is still operating)
Blue = Under construction (from groundbreaking to dedication)
Yellow = Announced (from announcement to groundbreaking)
Black = Temporarily closed (paused operations; closed for extensive renovations; fully closed but with the intent to reopen when conditions allow; suspension of all ordinances during this time). Temporary closures only; permanent closures do not use this template (see below).

Other buildings and permanently closed, destroyed, or suspended temples
Don't use this template. Temples that don't change status and other church sites/facilities have no need for use of this template. These include:
Green* = Temples that are permanently closed or efforts suspended will likely not see a change of status. Use mark=Green pog.svg in Template or remove from map.
Green* = Stake centers. Use mark=Green pog.svg instead.
Orange = District centers. Use mark=Orange pog.svg instead.
Purple = Meetinghouses. Use mark=Purple pog.svg instead.
Gold = Historic site/monument. Use mark=Gold pog.svg instead.
(FHC) = Family History Center. Text (FHC) goes next to meetinghouse text. If no meetinghouse at or nearby FHC, use mark=White pog.svg instead and text=City name (FHC).
- In most (if not all) maps, discontinued temples and stake centers are not used on the same map. If the map requires both to be labled, then the color of either the discontinued/suspended temple or the stake center icons need to be of a different color. Green for stakes and purple for congregations matched color scheme for www.churchofjesuschrist.org. Orange was used to distinguish districts from stakes.
Do not place on map if icons and labels crowds the map, making it hard to read. Also, the more icons on a map, the more difficult to keep map updated as every icon needs to be verified when updating. Another way to not crowd is to not provide labels on all or certain categories of icons - assuming icons have their own space and map remains easy to read.
Date map. Use as of date to show when the map was produced and current to. Stakes, congregations, etc. are added, dissolved, and reclassified over time, and dates on the maps show readers when the map was effective.
