Quality scale

the assessment in articles is derived from the class perameter (parameters are defined by a separatory banner, which | is used as) in the {{WikiProject Malta}} banner added to all articles relating to Malta.

e.g.: {{WikiProject Malta|class=FA}} when added to a talk page would generate:

The class values used are:

  • FA – the highest (only applicable to an article which has been accepted by the community as a Featured Article)
  • A – 2nd best, almost FA standard
  • GA – (only applicable to an article which has been reviewed and promoted to GA status)
  • B – below GA, better than Start
  • Start – not a stub, but still needs much work before FA or even A status.
  • Stub – the lowest possible rating.

Below is the quality scale, explaining in depth what each of these class tags corresponds to in quality terms, as well as providing an example of an article which befits each of the quality assessment ratings

A Articles here are expected to largely meet the featured article criteria, and must be comprehensive, accurate, well-sourced, and well-written; however, they may require some further copyediting. GA Reserved for articles that meet the good article criteria and have received good article status. Approved at Good article nominations by a random reviewer Fortifications of Malta
B The article meets the following five criteria:
  1. Well referenced, with a good number of inline citations if possible.
  2. It reasonably covers the topic and does not contain major omissions or inaccuracies.
  3. It has a defined structure, including a lead section and one or more content sections.
  4. It is free from major grammatical errors.
  5. It contains appropriate supporting materials, such as an infobox, images, or diagrams.

C The article is substantial but is still missing important content or contains much irrelevant material. The article should have some references to reliable sources but may still have significant problems or require substantial cleanup. Class may be assigned by any reviewer Valletta
Start The article has a meaningful amount of good content, but it is still weak in many areas and may lack a key element; it has at least one serious element of gathered materials, including any one of the following:
  • A beneficial picture or graphic (if possible)
  • Multiple links that help explain or illustrate the topic
  • A subheading that fully treats an element of the topic
  • Multiple subheadings that indicate material that could be added to complete the article
Class may be assigned by any reviewer Maltese people
Stub The article is either a very short article lacking content or a rough collection of information that will need much work to bring it to A-Class level. It is usually very short but can be of any length if the material is irrelevant or incomprehensible. Class may be assigned by any reviewer Music of Malta

Importance Scale

An article can also be assessed on how important the subject is in the scope of WikiProject Malta. For instance, the article on Malta is very important to the scope of the project, and so is rated Top importance. While this is definitely an important element of assessment, it does not necessarily reflect how good an article is, and even a Low importance article can be a featured Article if it is good enough. It's also recommended that you read through the project's assessment policy before assigning importance assessments.
