Uffrainkhal

Uffrainkhal, also spelled Ufrainkhal, is a small hill town located in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. Known for its tranquil ambiance and panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, it is a hidden gem in the Garhwal region, attracting nature enthusiasts and seekers of solitude.

Geography

Uffrainkhal is situated at an elevation of approximately 1,700 meters (5,577 feet) above sea level. The town is surrounded by dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron, offering a lush green landscape throughout the year. It lies roughly 90 kilometers from Pauri, the district headquarters, and about 70 kilometers from Kotdwar, the nearest railhead.

Climate

The climate of Uffrainkhal is characterized by mild summers and cold winters.

  • Summers (March to June): Temperatures range from 15°C to 30°C, providing a pleasant retreat from the heat of the plains.
  • Winters (October to February): The temperature can drop below freezing, and occasional snowfall enhances its scenic beauty.

Administrative Importance

Although primarily associated with the Pauri Garhwal district, Uffrainkhal's proximity to Chamoli and Almora adds to its strategic significance as a cultural and geographic meeting point for the three districts.
