All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.

The present is built on perceptions of the past. The present is in danger if the past is abused, if it is withheld, if something that did not happen is added to it, and if what did happen is "forgotten" or relativized. This creates a false vision of the present, making us incapable of perceiving and therefore resolving its issues. Historians must be socially responsible.

— Defend History Declaration, Who Started All This? – Historians Against Revisionism

Man is an historical animal, with a deep sense of his own past; and if he cannot integrate the past by a history explicit and true, he will integrate it by a history implicit and false.

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

I'm a Wikipedian based in Croatia. I enjoy contributing, especially to articles on 20th century history of Croatia and/or Yugoslavia. Participation in WikiProjects advertised in my userboxes does not mean I intend to limit my contribution to them specifically. Those are just the projects where I might volunteer for light housekeeping from time to time and whose talk pages I normally watchlist.

If you would like me to check a particular reference in a book or journal I have access to (within a reasonable time), please message me on my talk page. The list of such resources is here. Most of the journals listed there are available online though.
