deleted page request

PLease, be so nice and provide me the last known article (before the deletion) of https://ro.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mark_Szabo if its possible. It's my sons wiki page and there are some important infortmation. Thank you very much Lorant.szabo (talk) 22:59, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Lorant.szabo, unfortunately I cannot retrieve the contents of the deleted page, since I am not an administrator on the Romanian language Wikipedia, only the English language one (en.wikipedia.org). You will have to ask an administrator on that project for assistance. Some useful links that I found:

Copy deleted page to draft

Hello Aiplaneman,

I'm reaching out to you, as a page I've created in my Sandbox got deleted due to conflict of intereses. I'm fresh at Wikipedia, and to be honest, I believed my Sandbox is my "Safe space" to experiment, that's why I created a page of a company, just to see how it would look like.

As far as i understand, I should have done it as a draft - my bad. Could you please help me in saving my effort into an acceptable form?

Thank you!

All my best,

Aldentyzm Aldentyzm (talk) 20:11, 23 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aldentyzm: I'm confused. It appears you removed the content yourself: Special:Diff/1201783363. Removing content in an edit is distinct from deletion, which removes edits or pages from public view. In this case, the edit has not been removed from public view, so you can still find it in the page history. Cheers, Airplaneman (talk) 21:15, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

re: deleted page?

Hello, non-actual-airplane man,

I feel so ridiculous. I put together a page under this account for a local artist. It took me quite some time. Apparently, I got a message months ago that I never saw until I did a search... and now I fear the whole page has been deleted. To be clear, I am not the artist; I am a fan creating one for him (Atomik). If you could help me in resurrecting the page/getting it vetted, I would be so appreciative. My business is: awritingconcierge.com for reference.

Thank you, Allison AdamAtomik (talk) 14:00, 31 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Allison/AdamAtomik (talk · contribs)! Thanks for writing. Sorry for my late reply. I am less active on Wikipedia these days. I believe you are referring to Draft:Atomik, which was deleted by administrator Jimfbleak (talk · contribs) for being written like an advertisement. You can see the deletion reason in the page log. As you may know, Wikipedia has policies on writing in a neutral tone and guidelines on subject notability. Given the reason for the page's deletion, I am hesitant to restore the text.
The conflict of interest (COI) guidelines probably also apply in this situation. To encourage transparency and objectively-written content, Wikipedia volunteers have come up with the COI guidelines, which include disclosure requirements for individuals writing about individuals or entities that they have a relationship with, particularly if they are being paid to do so. Let me know if you have any questions about that. Regards, Airplaneman (talk) 21:12, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

happy wikipedia birthday

I am not an active editing user of this wikipedia, and I don't know why I am here, but these tiny corners of the internet are strangely appealing to me. I hope you are doing well after 16 years on here (that's the number your page told me at least). I was a preschooler or something like that 16 years ago. If all this will still be here for me to visit in another 16 years, I hope to stumble into it again. 84.238.85.237 (talk) 02:11, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting the content re-pasted in draft

Hi,

Recently I put up a draft for publishing and got a review after which it was deleted. Can you please paste it back? Would be really helpful.

Thanks & Regards

Shruti Goel Shrutigoel2018 (talk) 11:54, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Shrutigoel2018:, I believe you are referring to the contributions you made to Draft:HyperVerge. Administrator Jimfbleak (talk · contribs) deleted the page under this criterion for advertising/promotion, so I am uncomfortable undoing Jim's action and restoring the content. It looks like a different account has re-created the draft. Regards, Airplaneman (talk) 20:58, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've deleted the new version too, which had no text. Recreated by a reasonably experienced editor, rather than an obvious sock, so not sure what has happened there Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:14, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

re: thank you for responding!

Hi, Airplaneman!

I feel happy at least knowing someone out there with far more knowledge of wikipedia than myself can assist. I understand the guidelines; however, I wrote the piece as an admirer of the artist. If that page can't be restored, can I resubmit a new page? It took me a long time to create that content (essentially, just figuring out how the wikipedia platform works) - which is why I'd be forever in someone's debt if it could be restored. If not, please let me know emphatically "no" - and I will proceed with a new page. Thank you! AdamAtomik (talk) 22:34, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A copy of my email reply, minus the deleted content:
Hi Allison,
Sorry again for the delay in my reply. I've removed my name from the list of people you probably found me on, since I am not volunteering anywhere near daily these days.
As for the article draft about Atomik that we've been talking about, I am unsure that Wikipedia volunteers would consider the subject to meet the General Notability Guidelines mentioned here. If you are able to establish the notability (notability as defined by the guidelines) of the subject by including significant coverage in reliable secondary sources, the article is more likely to be kept.
I am still unsure about restoring the article draft as it was deleted, since that would in some ways be a reversal of the previous administrative decision made by administrator User:Jimfbleak, and I don't want to set you up for additional disappointment by restoring content on-wiki that will likely be re-deleted. However, I know writing articles takes a lot of work, and it is tough to see the work removed. I am attaching a copy of the page below in this email.
All the best,

Copy of a deleted page

Hi @Airplaneman,

I'm new to wikipedia and recently I created my first page about my friend's family business and it was an unpaid task. One editor @Jimfbleak got back to me and believe there's a conflict of interst creating this page so he/r suggested I check out the COI related article, revise it and ask him to review before publish. Would you be able to help me retrive the content so I can make it right? Thank you so much.

Chicago Meetup for Wikidata Day

Hello! This is User:Luiysia (IRL name is Kelly). My main interests are fashion, music, literature, and history. I am fairly new to Wikipedia editing and I found that there has been very little activity from the Chicago Wikipedia user group since 2020.

I'd like to host a casual meetup in Chicago to celebrate Wikidata Day on Saturday, October 26.

Proposed location is Engine Coffee in the Wicker Park/West Town area, at 11AM.

Here is the official meetup page, where you can add yourself as an attendee.

(If you would prefer not to see messages like this, go ahead and take yourself off this list.)

Hope to see you all there!

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

Thank you for making Deadlift semi-protected

Greetings @Airplaneman, hope you are doing good. This was a long overdue, and thank you very much for taking the initiative to get it done! Would also appreciate if you could consider making Progression of the deadlift world record semi-protected as well. With kind regards, Nir007H (talk) 02:21, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Nir007H, thanks for your note. I don't think there's sufficient disruption in Progression of the deadlift world record for semi-protection to be applied. Page protections require weighing the costs of restricted editing access with the benefits of reducing abuse, and I'm not sure the level of disruption here is worth semi-protection. Roughly, I tend to consider multiple disruptions per week from multiple accounts/IP addresses, among other factors, as grounds for semi-protection. You can always bring this to WP:RFPP if you would like someone else to weigh in though. Best, Airplaneman (talk) 18:05, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Understood @Airplaneman and I concur with your decision. I was also wondering why you have semi protected Deadlift 'only' for a one month period. Nir007H (talk) 18:38, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I try to be a bit conservative when applying page protection, with reference to the balancing test I mentioned above. Should the disruption prove to need longer-term protection, the lengths of time can be escalated in subsequent protections. Does that make sense? Airplaneman (talk) 18:51, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Airplaneman Yes, that makes sense. If disruptions from multiple accounts/ IP addresses continue after the 25th November, let us please consider lengths of time to be escalated. Let me also add @MrOllie to the loop to keep him informed. He also worked hard to rectify the disruptions. Nir007H (talk) 08:13, 29 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good to me! Airplaneman (talk) 00:36, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Two disruptions in two consecutive days from different IP addresses. Just keeping you notified @Airplaneman. Nir007H (talk) 09:18, 6 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Greeting @Airplaneman, there's four disruptions from four different IP addresses for the month of December and we are still not even halfway through the month. Kindly requesting to make the article semi-protected, indefinitely. Nir007H (talk) 16:04, 15 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there! I am not as active these days, so if you want to get a timely response, you can continue to request at WP:RFPP. I understand the ongoing edit dispute can be a chore to manage - I have protected the page for 3 more months. I'm not sure every admin who sees this level of disruption would agree that semi-protection is necessary, but I think there's a reasonable case to be made for it here, so I've applied it. Airplaneman (talk) 02:15, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for everything @Airplaneman. Nir007H (talk) 03:14, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Macintosh Yamaha guitar

Hello Airplaneman,

I have just a small question. On the Macintosh startup article that you created (many years ago), you said in the "Startup Chime" section that the first generation Power Macintosh computers have a chime that used a Yamaha 12-string guitar played by Stanley Jordan. I've seen a lot of sources saying the 12-string part, but was it actually Yamaha brand? I want to make sure so I can at least put a source here. Please get back to me whenever you can.

Warm regards,

Jibblesnark86 (talk) 17:40, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jibblesnark86, that's a good question. I remember creating the article by merging multiple articles together. If you can't verify the Yamaha part, then it should be removed. Cheers, Airplaneman (talk) 18:00, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks buddy, let me see if I can at least find some source about the brand and maybe I can source it soon enough. Thank you again for a little boost of help.

Multiple issue banner on Macintosh startup

Hey Airplaneman,

I'm writing to you again. I'm wondering if I should remove that banner listing multiple issues on the Macintosh startup article. I don't know if I should be asking you or somebody else though. Either way, maybe you could give it a scan and tell me what you think. Thanks!

Hey @Jibblesnark86! You can actually remove the banners yourself if you think they no longer apply. I can see that a significant amount of work has been done on the article recently to improve it. I think it's reasonable to remove the banners. Airplaneman (talk) 02:17, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
