Question from Theemausoliam (06:50, 16 January 2025)

Hello! I was reading the article on the "Salmon problem" (https://en.wikipedia.org/key/Salmon_problem) and noticed that it had lots of issues. Some of these were simple typos but some seemed to be issues with translation from sources in German. I fixed a few of the minor typos, but I suspect the typos and larger translation issues happened at the same time. I wanted to reword some sentences to what I *think* is trying to be said, but since I don't speak German, I can't really confirm my suspicions. This is a very interesting article with lots of potential, but I don't know if I can fix all of its issues on my own.

Your draft article, Draft:Bidenisms

Hello, CFA. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Bidenisms".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Vanderwaalforces (talk) 21:04, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Burt (crocodile)

On 17 January 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Burt (crocodile), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that an Australian crocodile named Burt starred in Crocodile Dundee? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Burt (crocodile). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Burt (crocodile)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Question from NLA-Collections (08:49, 17 January 2025)

Hello CFA, I am concerned my article John Guest (researcher and author) may be deleted..This is my first article. I have given the article a hard edit. To be honest I have fumbled my way through the process. And I am.learning on the run so to speak. Are you able to take a look at it and offer practical suggestions? --NLA-Collections (talk) 08:49, 17 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Impersonator

Hello, CFA,

If you visit WP:AN, you'll see you had a quite sneaky impersonator tonight. Any guesses on who this might have been? Liz 04:09, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the request for advanced permissions has been removed but Extraordinary Whit linked to this list so I guess having impersonators calling themselves your alternate account is nothing new. Liz 05:07, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, definitely not anything new. BuickCenturyDriver was messing around yesterday (see CFA (sock) and CerEffAya), but I think CFA (public testing account) is the unrelated LTA (MAB?) that has been obsessed with me for the past few months. C F A 16:05, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Liz I just blocked the impersonating account Isabele Belato, whose sole edit was reporting CFA to ANEW. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:53, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Followed up with Mobashgu – Muboshgu (talk) 17:58, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Hello CFA, I hope you are doing well. First of all, thank you for your translation attribution script. I have been using it to attribute translations, and it's amazing! The only issue is that it adds a duplicate {{Translated page}} template on the talk pages. Could you please fix this by adding a condition to check if the template has already been added, and if so, skip adding the duplicate? – DreamRimmer (talk) 16:40, 18 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'll get to this over the weekend. C F A 23:10, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of extinct species

Hi there, and thank you for your help with NPP! I wanted to reach out really quickly because I noticed you marked a few species articles reviewed that shouldn't have been (e.g., Jujubinus armatus). Typically, species are an easy review because of NSPECIES; however, this does not apply to extinct species, such as Jujubinus armatus. I only recently learned about this, so I'm not scolding by any means. Just wanted to let you know. :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 21:22, 22 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Technically, yes, NSPECIES does not apply to extinct species — in practice, however, they are always kept at AfD. They aren't included because there was a disagreement with some members of WP:PALEO on whether they should be merged up to the genus level. To ensure the proposal passed, they were excluded until a more firm consensus could be reached. I generally just mark as reviewed; other editors are free to merge up if they want.
