Hi there. You set up the article block list around this IP range - can I ask that it be extended to include 2024 United Kingdom general election? They were causing problems there back in July and the IP range is now back edit warring old edits from around that time. Many thanks. Belbury (talk) 14:33, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I request for the true inventor of the Golden Spiral which is Euclid to recieve the credit he deserves instead of a fictional character and the real concern being that obsessive fans of the show will edit bomb the article after the protection duration ends so I request that the inventor is corrected and the article is protected permanently so that they can't spread further misinformation

I hope I wasn't invective this time KazehayaShotaKNT (talk) 21:12, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@KazehayaShotaKNT (talk page watcher) It's actually against policy to protect pages preemptively. It goes against the spirit of "anyone can edit until they abuse the privilege." If it happens, then you can contact an admin, perhaps through requests for page protection or going to recently active editors and clicking on the 'admin' button. It wouldn't be an issue if it's one or two edits a day but not if there's going to be thousands a day, it can be fixed if we exclude specified words on the article such as the name of the fictional character and the show's name because if left unnoticed I'm sure it's going to go back to this stage, now to top it off the article will be swarmed in the future as a Reddit post on a famous community has already been made, here's the link just for reference https://www.reddit.com/r/ShitPostCrusaders/s/PhHrB8NSY3 KazehayaShotaKNT (talk) 21:25, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@KazehayaShotaKNT Not only have I not ever seen thousands of vandalism edits in a day to one page in my 16/17 years of editing, but that doesn't even come close to sort of advocacy that has resulted in vandal attacks in the past. It might result in a few vandalism edits here and there, but nothing a semi-protection and a few blocks can't handle. In fact, now a days we have an edit filter that can help "flag" edits with the name of the character in it if it proves necessary. And please be reassured that it's relatively routine vandalism that will run its course. Wikipedia has ample means to deal with that. We appreciate you bringing it to our attention. Acroterion (talk) 21:20, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
