Hello Carl, With all due respect, your "aristo-worship" characterization is inappropriate and uncalled for. To note that there is a distinction of one class of insignia over another is appropriate. A crown is obviously a higher distinction than a wreath, just indicating a higher class of the order. There is no worship about it, just indicating that King Carlos III must of thought de Galvez earned a higher designation than the Knight insignia. I'm not sure, but you probably have the right, to edit my proposed edits, but obviously do not agree with your analysis.
