User Talk:Ritchie333

Hey, how can I create a new page?? --Anonymous9809 (talk) 17:24, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Anonymous9809, welcome to Wikipedia! Ritchie333 hasn't edited in a few days, so other volunteers have been stepping in to answer some mentor questions in the interim.
Creating a new article is one of the hardest tasks on the project, and we really recommend you get a feel for how the encyclopaedia operates before making the attempt. You might want to check out Help:Introduction for some basics, and spend some time improving existing articles before attempting your own.
Whenever you feel more prepared for starting a new article, Help:Your first article is the guidance page you'll want to read thoroughly before beginning. Best wishes, Folly Mox (talk) 17:36, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Meguro2000 (10:34, 6 October 2024)

hello! Few days ago I created an article about the animation TV series "Tommy and Oscar". I still don't see it online and I have not received any message about it. Do you know if it will be published soon?

Thanks!

Max --Meguro2000 (talk) 10:34, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is a severe shortage of editors reviewing drafts, and consequently it may potentially take several months for it to be reviewed. Sorry. Ritchie333 10:07, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply. Do you know if there is way to receive a notification when it it will be review or published? Meguro2000 (talk) 15:02, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Nohorizonss (20:05, 6 October 2024)

Hello, how can I request a title change to create consesus for a particular wikipedia article? and if nobody replies for months, can it be moved unilaterally> --Nohorizonss (talk) 20:05, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If there is no consensus against moving an article, you can simply be bold and do it. I've just done this myself here. Ritchie333 10:04, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please copy the text of my recently deleted autobiography entry on William Wallace Murray An Applied Scientist and Sometimes Engineer to my User Page (LordofTheGTO) (18:30 CDT OCTOBER 06 - 2024 AD Roman Calendar System, EARTH, SOL, Milkyway Galaxy, Universe Known to EARTH-(sci fi humor :) )

Needing a proof reader or two or three. Refer to the AutoBiography FREE on apple books Titled "To Leave Paradise and Become an Engineer" by William Murray 2023, 2024. (600+ pages counting reference sections) LordoftheGTO (talk) 23:29, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the biography was in your sandbox and was deleted as WP:U5. I have to agree with others that you shouldn't be writing about yourself on Wikipedia. If want the text so it can be put on another website, I can email that to you, if you have it enabled. (See Wikipedia:Emailing users for a fuller explanation). Question from Webe Céline Kadima (14:10, 12 October 2024)

Greetings! Could you tell me how to add a photo. --Webe Céline Kadima (talk) 14:10, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page watcher) @Webe Céline Kadima: You are looking for the File Upload Wizard. - UtherSRG (talk) 14:16, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I Guess so, if that's what is needed to upload a photo. Webe Céline Kadima (talk) 14:34, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Truckin.....

Thank you for appearing on my watchlist again! Yesterday brought a timely promotion of Helmut Bauer (bishop) to the Main page on the day when pieces from Mozart's Requiem were performed for him. - In places, you may be interested in a cat or two. Always check out music ;) -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:49, 13 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I made Leif Segerstam my big story today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:53, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Today, I learned of the passing of Phil Lesh, one of my favourite bassists of all time and a key member of the Grateful Dead, so I decided to fix up his article for WP:ITNC. Ritchie333 14:24, 26 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's great! - Happy whatever you celebrate today, - more who died, more to come, and they made the world richer. Greetings from Madrid where I took the pic of assorted Cucurbita in 2016. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:06, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

Declined speedies in Admin Elections

Hello, your 'Declined speedies' lists in WP:ADMINELECT discussions are definitely helpful. But it might do good to clarify that they were generated by a script and was not personally vetted. 👍 Ca 13:04, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As one of the candidates, I wanted to thank you (Ritchie333) for taking the time to run the script and post the output for all the candidates. I think it is completely understandable that no analysis was attempted of the output as that would be a lot of effort for you. Leaving it to either the candidates to comment, or interested parties to do their own research is sensible. Thanks, MarcGarver (talk) 16:03, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've just written a post explaining this at Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections. Ritchie333 16:26, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from U+12399 (01:05, 3 November 2024)

Hello, How are you. I'm literally after creating this just so i can fix some pet peeves of mine.

Nice to meet you Richie, I'm not expecting to become a wiki expert or anything. But would love some feedback on my recent edits (i clicked on minor edit checkbox by mistake). Otherwise I hope to create a Good article someday. would be kinda cool.

Could you explain how edits work? are they basically submitted for review to a panel? users with high scores? And if i were to create a page, do i basically own it? and have to screen new edits or something?

Apologies for all the questions, feel free to ask me any.

Cheers. 𒎙

P.S. Do I get to join a secret club now? lol --U+12399 (talk) 01:05, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm not sure what the issue is here, but once you make an edit to the encyclopedia, it is automatically added to the article and stored as the latest revision. The only exception to this is if the article is protected against editing, but you'd get a message saying this at the time. It's possible your edit may get reverted at some point later (this happens to everybody once in a while, including me, and is a normal part of the editing process) but again you'd get notified if that is the case. Certainly, this edit, confirming Claude Shannon's appointment to the Royal Irish Academy, is a good edit.

Your user page can contain a short bit about what articles you like to edit, and what motivates you to participate in the project. I personally wouldn't put in any personal information, or anything you don't mind being distributed all over the internet. Ritchie333 13:11, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
