According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 34.08 square miles (88.3 km), of which 33.71 square miles (87.3 km) (or 98.91%) is land and 0.37 square miles (0.96 km) (or 1.09%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 14,280 people and 5,794 households residing in the township. The population density was 423/mi. The racial makeup of the township was 86.4% White, 8.1% Black or African American, 0.3% Native American, 3.5% Asian, less than 0.1% Pacific Islander, 0.5% from other races, and 1.1% from two or more races. 2.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
The average household size was 2.31 and the average family size was 2.91. The median age was 31.6 years. For every 100 females, there were 118 males.
