Miles Spencer - Delete

Please forgive any nomenclature shortcomings here; Interested on why this was deleted today? This page has existed for ~20 years and also has sources such as Forbes, NY Times, Fast Company, etc. contributing to the article. There are also multiple wiki pages that cross link. Note; this is also a living TV/Media personality. Full Disclosure; I work in an affiliate and was asked to investigate.

This page does not exist. The deletion, protection, and move log for the page are provided below for reference. 11:59, 18 September 2024 Explicit talk contribs deleted page Miles Spencer (Expired PROD, concern was: Poorly sourced promotional article on a "media entrepreneur".) Tag: Twinkle (thank) Fletcherpoince (talk) 20:41, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Explicit See above. I am tasked with investigating this removal, which has been active over ten years... mostly I am interested to know what promotional [piece/article/picture] may have triggered the PROD (which I missed until now- my bad)... the most likely fair solution is to remove the offending citation and let the legacy page stand. Happy to propose this back to the community, but figured I'd ask you first. Please advise. Kind regards Fletcherpoince (talk) 00:57, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Fletcherpoince:(talk page watcher) There are no "legacy pages" on Wikipedia as explained in WP:LONGTIME. A proposed deletion is, for the most part, considered to be a non-contentious one; so, if you're telling Explicit that you wish to challenge this deletion per WP:DEPROD, then (absent any really serious issues) he most likely can restore the article. This, however, doesn't ensure that the article can't be nominated for deletion by someone at some point in the future. The best way to reduce the risk of that happening is to make sure the article complies with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines, in particular Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and Wikipedia:Notability.
Finally, since you're claiming to work in an affiliate and have been tasked with investigating this removal, you most certainly sound to have at least an WP:APPARENTCOI. For this reason, I strongly suggest that you take a close look at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure before doing anything else to better understand what's going to be expected of not only you but also of anyone else who might be being asked to make requests on behalf of Miles Spencer. You might also want to take a look at Wikipedia:Ownership of content, Wikipedia:When your boss tells you to edit Wikipedia and Wikipedia:An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing for reference as well and pass along the information you find on those pages to whoever asked to "investigate" this matter because they might not fully understand some important things about Wikipedia. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:19, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for guidance @talk page stalker. Please read my first sentence; "Please forgive any nomenclature shortcomings here" (rookie); I wanted to review the article for compliance as you suggest but ATM can't see it. So request is first step. Thanks again, incl. guidance on COI, Biographies, Notability. Fletcherpoince (talk) 02:12, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Explicitjust checking in on this. respectfully Fletcherpoince (talk) 21:13, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the deletion of Mohammed Tharwat Hassan (Scientist)

Hi, I have realized you deleted Mohammed Tharwat Hassan's page. This page was created to present the biography of Mohammed Tharwat Hassan, an associate professor of physics and optical sciences at the University of Arizona. All the information and references on that page were correct and obtained from the Physics Department at the University of Arizona website https://w3.physics.arizona.edu/people/mohammed-hassan and from his research group's website

https://sites.arizona.edu/mohammedhassan/

Also, The research was based on his published research articles on his Google Scholar website

https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=JA0qsY0AAAAJ&hl=en

I would highly appreciate it if you could review the information and if confirmed to restore the page.

Thank you so much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by MTH111 (talkcontribs) 01:44, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MTH111: Sorry, but as the page was deleted as a result of a deletion discussion, I cannot unilaterally undelete the page. I see that you created a draft. You are free to work on it and submit your work for review at Articles for creation. plicit 03:34, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank! @Explicit is there a particular reason for the deletion of the page?
also I would like to declare COI for the draft page i just submitted for review. MTH111 (talk) 03:52, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@MTH111: The link to the deletion discussion is at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mohammed Tharwat Hassan, where other editors argued their reasons for deletion. To declare your COI, please see the instructions at WP:UPE, particularly the "Connected contributor (paid) template" box. plicit 04:00, 19 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Explicit, I saw the discussion led to the deletion. However, the H-index is not a rigid parameter for the scientist contribution. For example, Prof. John F. Clauser (Nobel prize in Physics in 22) his H-idex is 39 and when he won the prize it was 28 https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=BDm2SGcAAAAJ&hl=en . Also, Prof. Donna Strickland ( Nobel prize in Physics in 2018) , same research field as Mohammed Hassan, has H-index -39 and much less in 2018. Mohammed Hassan is the inventor of the the world's fastest (attosecond) electron microscope 2024, He demonstrated the fastest attosecond laser pulse in 2016, the attosecond optical switch in 2022.
I saw also an argument about his education. He got his PhD from the prestigious Max-Planck Institute of Quantum Optics, Munich, Germany . His PhD supervisor is Ferenc Krausz (Nobel prize in Physics 2023). Then, he did his postdoc at the California Institute of Technology under the supervison of Ahmed Zewail (Nobel Prize 1999 in chemistry).
Hassan research on attosecond electron microscope and for the first time imaging the electron motion was all over the media in the last few weeks ( one week after the page deletion) , see https://scienceadvances.altmetric.com/details/147507143/news
Hence, I would ask you to reconsider the deletion of Mohammed Tharwat Hassan Page. Thanks! 2601:500:8785:9F90:E080:24C9:6B78:65FC (talk) 05:37, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Explicit I appreciate you and the other editors reconsidering for Mohammed Tharwat Hassan page deletion, thanks! MTH111 (talk) 05:58, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A Grammar of Vai.jpg

Hello! I re-started the article A Grammar of Vai after I found some book reviews about it. I am aware A Grammar of Vai.jpg was deleted because the article had been made into a redirect (as the sourcing was not yet in place). Now that the article is back, is it OK if the image is re-uploaded?

Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 20:21, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering…

Hi there X! You (correctly) closed this (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/African Entertainment Awards USA) discussion and I happened to stumble upon its “subpages” such as

and I was wondering if they could be deleted as “subpages” of the main article. Best, Reading Beans 14:43, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Reading Beans: Hi, these do not qualify for speedy deletion as subpages. They should have been bundled in the above AFD. They must go through a separate deletion discussion to get deleted. plicit 23:49, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mehn! These are tiring. Lol. Thank you BTW. I’d do them when I can. Best, Reading Beans 23:59, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Fresh start?

so first off, i was gonna put this in an, which sent me to an/i, which sent me to recently active admins, i went with you because you reply fast, if you know a better place to ask this please tell me...

so a few years back, i got indef-banned for, frankly, being a piece of shit...

but as i mentioned it's been a few years, and i feel like i've improved? on the WP:NOTHERE side, i've become what i swore to destroy (take this reddit comment i found that might explain it), on the maturity side... i was 12... not trying to excuse my actions, but... and finally take my inkipedia contributions, and this one singular edit i made here since, i guess??

so... can i come back to editing? 99.137.85.166 (talk) 06:18, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Well, by editing while logged out, you're already off to a bad start because you are evading your block, something your IP was blocked for nearly four years ago. Wikipedia does offer clean starts, but this would only apply if your account is not currently blocked. You have the option to log into your original account to appeal your block, but I can't guarantee you'll get the result you want due to the aforementioned block evasion. plicit 07:40, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Explicit. This redirect was a blank-and-redirected article, so not eligible for WP:G8 unless its prior history was also eligible for speedy deletion. Would you undelete it (or give some criterion under which the prior revision would be eligible for speedy deletion) please? SilverLocust 💬 09:08, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SilverLocust: Hi, the redirect target Peter Krasinski was moved to draftspace. Since it not mentioned in that draft, I've restored the page and moved the content to Draft:Peter Krasinski filmography. plicit 00:46, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your common.js page

Hi, I stumbled upon User:Explicit/common.js and noticed that it is of CSS content model. This will prevent any of the user scripts in it from loading. To fix the issue, go to Special:ChangeContentModel/User:Explicit/common.js and set the content model to JavaScript. – SD0001 (talk) 17:32, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SD0001:  Done, thanks. plicit 00:46, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

TfD Curlie

Thanks for closing TfD on {{Curlie}}. What happens next? Will someone have to go in and delete all 999 links to the template, or can it be setup for a friendly bot to do? If it's manual, are there tools to assist? I proposed its deletion so I suppose I should take some responsibility for the cleanup! 10mmsocket (talk) 16:53, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and also the 50 pages that link to {{DMOZ}} which is a redirect to the Curlie template. 10mmsocket (talk) 16:55, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@10mmsocket: No manual editing will be required, a bot will take care of all these transclusions. The template and its redirect will be deleted once the task is completed. plicit 00:33, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Good to know, thank you. 10mmsocket (talk) 08:48, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

GreekParadise has asked for a deletion review of File:1966 Official Lebanese Map of Shebaa Farms and Syrian border.png. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. —Cryptic 23:45, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Does this page seem familiar?

I looked at the deletion history of Persemura Murung Raya. Does it need to be deleted under the same CSD criterion? I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:35, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Explicit,

I was typing up a WP:IAR - based move for this now WP:G8 talk page to a notional Draft:All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association when you deleted it.

A WP:BEFORE would appear to indicate some assertion of perhaps "WP:SIGNIFICANCE", that odd little lower level assertion of notability.

I seek your opinion about this.
