It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like: "What about lunch?"   A. A. Milne

Folks, it is 2024, there is nothing wrong with using LGBTQ as an acronym on Wikipedia

Source of Errors

I've figured out the reason that the Kanye presidential campaign article got messed up when I attempted to edit it. I have a Windows computer and thus flag emojis do not appear for me, instead they appear as regional indicator characters (such as 🇺🇸 for the American flag). I installed the browser extension Flagmoji to make flags appear for me. This causes flag emojis to be replaced with the flags in appearance but they are actually searched and replaced with the long string of code "<img src="https://flagcdn.com/us.svg" alt="<img src=" https:="" flagcdn.com="" us.svg"="" style="width: 0.9em; padding: 0 0.05em">" style="width: 0.9em; padding: 0 0.05em">". There were US flag emojis in the Kanye West article and the web extension searched and replaced the emojis, breaking the code. I will disable the extension so that this doesn't happen again, deepest apologies. ARandomShyGuy (talk) 23:21, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the future use Show preview and check your work for errors. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 21:26, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you!

I appreciate what you do fixing ref names. There's been a few times I've mistakenly copied over content without double checking if there's stuff like "refname0" in there and I apologize for creating more work for you! Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 15:24, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

South Yorkshire

Hi @Isaidnoway, what was the reference error on the South Yorkshire page? The infobox shouldn't be pulling any data for metropolitan counties using the GSS code so I'll need to fix the infobox code but I can't identify any errors? Thanks Dgp4004 (talk) 23:08, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page listed at pages with incorrect ref formatting - a list-defined reference has no name. When I changed it back to just one GSS code, the reference error disappeared. Could have been a glitch maybe, don't know, but the ref error went away when it was changed back to one code. I'll keep an eye out and see it it re-appears in CAT:REF if you reinsert the codes again, and let you know. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 23:17, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, there are also three other UK ceremonial county articles listed in CAT:REF - Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, but I'm not see any cite errors visible in those articles like there was on the South Yorkshire page. Isaidnoway (talk) 23:26, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Isaidnoway. I have added it back. I can't find any cite errors. Is it back in the list? Dgp4004 (talk) 06:47, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is not back on the list, and the other three mentioned above are gone as well. I sometimes wonder if it is the BOT that checks for ref errors on pages that has a glitch once in a while and incorrectly adds pages to that cat that don't actually have ref errors. Anyway, thanks for reaching out. Isaidnoway (talk) 08:58, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lustigermutiger21 - If you continue to make baseless accusations about editors having a COI with no evidence to support your unfounded claims, you may find yourself in trouble. Please stop. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 07:42, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please lets have a Admin involved here to check if there is a potential COI. Lustigermutiger21 (talk) 07:43, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Administrator Intervention: Conflict of Interest and Content Dispute on Gavin Wood Article

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Hello,

I am requesting administrator intervention regarding a content dispute and potential conflict of interest involving the user @Isaidnoway and the article on Gavin Wood. The issue involves the repeated removal of reliably sourced content that I believe should be included in the article. I would appreciate it if an administrator could review the case and help resolve the dispute.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Lustigermutiger21 (talk) 07:42, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you have actual evidence, you should open a thread at WP:COIN rather than make pointless posts on an editors talk page and hope someone notices. Note that administrators have no special powers to investigate COI. If you have no evidence, and you've presented none, I suggest you drop this right now. IMO you're already on very thin ice with personal attacks considering the disgusting personal attacks you made against User:Bilby for which AFAIK, you didn't even properly apologise for instead just made a non-apology apology. In other words, if you open a COI thread or otherwise keep pursuing this despite an apparent lack of any evidence, expect to be blocked for continued personal attacks. A message from 80.192.187.151

I saw you on the Dreamcast best selling games one. Should there be a Sega Saturn page? I know of 5 games I can prove sold over 1 million (VF2, VF1, Sega Rally, Daytona, Virtua Cop) 80.192.187.151 (talk) 01:25, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think five games would warrant a separate article, maybe they could be added to one of the other Sega Saturn pages. Thanks for reaching out. Isaidnoway (talk) 17:16, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well the Dreamcast page does a minimum of games that have sold at least 250k. There's plenty of Saturn games that did that and with enough sources to verify them. Just wanted to see if there were others with the interest in making the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.23.59.185 (talk) 17:39, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't disagree

I saw your recent edit. The List of black animated characters page IS getting long (likely due to all the "new" characters I keep adding and I still have MORE to add, which I've loosely listed here). But, HOW should it be split? By year? According to the "section sizes" template I added to Talk:List of black animated characters, the following are the biggest sections:

  • In the 1990s (50,000+ bytes)
  • In the 2000s (68,000+ bytes)
  • In the 2010s (97,000+ bytes)
  • In the 2020s (60,000+ bytes)

Perhaps each of those could be split into their own articles?

Also, this discussion, which I recently began, may be of interest, in which I was told that list splits "likely come down to editorial judgement, what best helps a reader" and I asked a follow-up question about list merging. That's pretty broad! Either there can be a bold split of the aforementioned four sections into their own articles, or... there could be further discussion on Talk:List of black animated characters. Whichever you think would be better. Historyday01 (talk) 12:46, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever y'all think is the best solution for splitting to relieve the article size is fine with me. Thanks for reaching out. Isaidnoway (talk) 17:14, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure. That makes sense. The latest reply in the discussion, that I mentioned in my last comment, said that list mergers *also* comes down to editorial judgment, while saying to keep in mind WP:NLIST. Historyday01 (talk) 15:18, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Billie Eilish discography

The reason why I added Portugal certification on the song "Wildflower" because I don’t see the Wikipedia page and link to the aforementioned song by Billie Eilish. Also, I completely understand on the format regarding the Portugal certification cite ref on the Singles section on the Billie Eilish discography. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. FireDragonValo (talk) 16:58, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

FireDragonValo - Try using this: <ref>{{cite certification |region= |type= |artist=Billie Eilish |title= |id= |access-date=}}</ref> or you could use <ref>{{cite web}}</ref> using a direct link to the website. Hope this helps. Thanks for reaching out. Isaidnoway (talk) 17:12, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome!!! Thank you so much!!! FireDragonValo (talk) 21:10, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

August music

story · music · places

Thank you for opposing a ban for a new editor! - I have three "musicians" on the Main page, one the topic of my story today, like 22 July but with interview and today's music at the Proms. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:05, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

On 13 August, Bach's cantata was 300 years old, and the image one. The cantata is an extraordinary piece, using the chorale's text and famous melody more than others in the cycle. It's nice to have not only a recent death, but also this "birthday" on the Main page. And a rainbow in my places. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:01, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
