Question from DevourerOfDreams (12:59, 22 August 2024)

Hello there Alex, hope all is going well.

I have some questions regarding spam and trolls. How do you ensure that wikipedia articles are resilient to bad actors ruining others' work? --DevourerOfDreams (talk) 12:59, 22 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DevourerOfDreams, sorry about the delay, there's a lot done overall depending on what is spam, people's intentions etc, sort of a system of checks and balances. It's very complicated. Alextejthompson (Ping me or leave a message on my talk page) 13:01, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
About the delay: it's fine, really. I didn't log in for a while, still wondering where I can contribute. I've mostly helped with simple visual problems, like typos or grammatical structure. I'd love to make more meaningful contributions in the future on knowledge that isn't very resilient.
About my question: I hadn't made my own research, it was a whimsical question that shouldn't have been brought up. WikiPedia probably has writeups on how this is done. Sorry for littering your talk page!

Invitation to participate in a research

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
