Population
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 11,506 in 2,981 households, when it was capital of the former Bon Rud District of Isfahan County. The following census in 2011 counted 11,924 people in 3,443 households. The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 12,714 people in 3,900 households.
In 2021, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Varzaneh County, and Varzaneh was transferred to the new Central District as the county's capital.
Geography
Varzaneh is 105 km southeast of Isfahan and 240 km from Yazd. The area of this city is more than 2,300 square kilometers and it lies at an altitude of 1,477 meters above sea level. Its climate is desert and completely dry, so that in July, its temperature reaches 40 degrees Celsius. Temperatures sometimes drop below zero after midnight in January and February.
