Central District (Torkamanchay County)

The Central District of Torkamanchay County (Persian: بخش مرکزی شهرستان ترکمانچای) is in East Azerbaijan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Torkamanchay, whose population at the time of the 2016 National Census was 7,443 people in 2,366 households. It was previously the capital of the former Torkamanchay District of Mianeh County.

History

In 2024, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Torkamanchay County, which was divided into two districts and five rural districts, with Torkamanchay as its capital and only city.
