Murphysboro Township is one of sixteen townships in Jackson County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2010 census, its population was 10,563 and it contained 5,174 housing units.

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 37.04 square miles (95.9 km), of which 36.28 square miles (94.0 km) (or 97.95%) is land and 0.76 square miles (2.0 km) (or 2.05%) is water.
