Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
After the "For other wikis, check the Meta oversight page..." sentence, add "If the wiki on which you are requesting oversight does not have a local oversight team, email the stewards using this form." I can't post this on User talk:Oversight, as that is a fully-protected redirect to the user page. JJPMaster (she/they) 14:33, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- Done The content was actually at User:Oversight/Emailnotice, whose talk page redirects to WT:Oversight, which is not protected, so this request should have been made there. * Pppery * it has begun... 05:12, 27 January 2025 (UTC)

- Ojsyork (t · th · c · del · cross-wiki · SUL · edit counter · pages created (xtools · sigma) · non-automated edits · BLP edits · undos · manual reverts · rollbacks · logs · rfar · spi · cci)
I've seen this editor's work on multiple occasions at New Page Review. Has created 208 pages, none deleted, more than 3/4 of them B-class. High-quality page creation with infoboxes, quality references with proper formatting, images, etc., requiring no cleanup by reviewers. Dclemens1971 (talk) 17:38, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- I'm concerned that many of the articles on lifeboat stations don't meet GNG. After looking at a random sampling of them, most of them cite the Lifeboat Enthusiasts Society (of which Martin states they are a member of on their talk page), which appears to be an WP:SPS, and The Lifeboat, a publication of the RNLI, which is not an independent source. voorts (talk/contributions) 03:15, 13 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Voorts I would have thought the same thing when I first encountered these articles, but there are several independent published sources on these lifesaving stations. Whenever I've done a BEFORE search on one, I always find GNG-qualifying sourcing. This came up in an AfD for one of Ojsyork's creations last year (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bamburgh Castle Lifeboat Station), which resulted in a "keep". - Needforname (t · th · c · del · cross-wiki · SUL · edit counter · pages created (xtools · sigma) · non-automated edits · BLP edits · undos · manual reverts · rollbacks · logs · rfar · spi · cci)
I would like to request auto-patrolled rights on Wikipedia. I have been actively contributing to the project and have created more than 30 of articles to date, which adhere to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I believe my experience and attention to detail make me a good fit for this role. Granting me auto-patrolled rights would help reduce the workload on other patrollers by automatically marking my new pages as reviewed.
Please feel free to review my contributions and articles to ensure they meet the necessary standards. Let me know if any additional information is required.
Thank you for considering my request! Needforname (talk) 17:39, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

Reason for requesting autopatrolled rights Ahola .O (talk) 22:56, 11 January 2025 (UTC) I am requesting the autopatrolled user right because I have been actively contributing to Wikipedia and believe that my experience and adherence to Wikipedia's guidelines make me a suitable candidate for this right, I have created over 25 articles, all of which comply with Wikipedia's notability guidelines and content policies. My contributions have consistently aimed to enhance the quality and reliability of the encyclopedia. I believe that granting me the autopatrolled user right will help reduce the workload of new page patrollers and allow me to continue contributing to Wikipedia more efficiently. Thank you for considering my request. Ahola .O (talk)
- (Non-administrator comment) You are currently not adding to the "workload of new page patrollers", in fact, your creations need to be watched closely. Not when I specifically told you here that the pieces you presented to inquire about Bobo Ajudua are thrash and nonsensical and told you to focus elsewhere instead of on an article that has been deleted several times. Yet, you went ahead to create it, and now, it has been deleted again? via AfD. And this? Your creations need to be watched and that is what the NPP is for. - @C1K98V Is it just me or the webpage you're linking to from colorstv.com is redirecting to a /mena/ directory making it impossible to see what you're talking about or citing. - Hi Vanderwaalforces, I'm not sure if the Colorstv website works outside of India. Let's wait for Schwede66 to confirm if they're able to verify it. I'm sharing a screenshot of the website for reference [10]. While searching for sources related to their academics, I found IndiaToday and added it later in the Early life section. I repositioned the named citation as I wanted to highlight it for Schwede66, so I left an edit summary too. Thanks for your consideration. C1K98V 03:43, 20 January 2025 (UTC)

- I would like to use it so I could perform more moves as right now I can't do most of them without this permission. @Primefac History6042😊 (Contact me) 17:05, 26 January 2025 (UTC)

Recently active back at RM for the past three months after being extremely active many years ago. I was brought to MR twice in 2013 & 2015 and in both cases my closure was endorsed. I have !voted recently in most of the recent months of MR and always aligned with consensus. Spent the last three months getting reacquainted with the changes in policy and approaches to RM's and have started to perform some closures. Would appreciate the bit to help reduce the need for CSD#G6 and/or RM/TR to complete some of these moves. Thanks! TiggerJay (talk) 08:47, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- Do you find yourself actually needing this, or are you just ticking the box because you meet the minimum requirements? I note that you have an RM/TR request and a couple of G6's, but otherwise not much in the way of necessity so far. Primefac (talk) 15:21, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
- Currently I'm avoiding some NAC because I am not really a fan of using TR because what I've found is that the admin who does perform the TR ends up doing all of the busy work (post move cleanup). IMHO the closer should perform the dirty work of cleaning up the move, and I'm happy to do so. I would see myself closing more discussions if the bit was available. That is the reason for the low number of current TR/G6, but you can see the frequency I previously require those tools prior to a wikibreak over at my CSD log. For me the bit is not about hat collecting, but rather simply because I'm getting back involved in Wiki (due to life-schedule changes) and as a formerly trusted and well-reputed RM-NAC, these tools would make more closures with follow-on work accessible. I mainly edit articles on biology, particularly fishes. I frequently (over 300 times so far, I am told) have to request a move of the only species in a monotypic genus from the species name to the genus name,as per WP:MONOTYPICFAUNA, over a redirect, and would like to be able to do this without having to request a move. I'd like to request pending changes review rights because I am familiar with the policy and this would help me with my vandalism patrols. Furthermore, I am currently trying to accept a request, but I do not have the permissions. Thanks! Ali Beary (talk2me!) (stalk me?!) 13:29, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Ali Beary Given your recent WP:CUTPASTE move, I'd like to see a little more time for you to demonstrate your knowledge of Wikipedia policies and procedures before granting additional permissions. --Ahecht (TALK

I'm very active on Wikipedia, with over 2,100 edits, and I'm well acquainted with WP:VAND and what vandalism is not. I can contribute to reducing backlogs by reviewing pending changes. Mr.Hanes Talk 19:03, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
Rollback
- Footballnerd2007 (t · th · c · del · cross-wiki · SUL · edit counter · pages created (xtools · sigma) · non-automated edits · BLP edits · undos · manual reverts · rollbacks · logs · rfar · spi · cci)
I’m requesting rollback tool to help with vandalism fighting more effectively. I’ve been active in counter-vandalism work and have a good understanding of policies like WP:VAND and WP:AGF. While I’ve made mistakes in the past, I’ve taken the feedback onboard, slowed down, and focused on making more accurate judgements.
Rollback would allow me to handle clear vandalism more efficiently without cluttering edit histories. I’m committed to using it responsibly and only for obvious cases of vandalism, leaving more complex issues for discussion or reporting.
Thank you for considering my request. Footballnerd2007 • talk ⚽ 17:27, 21 January 2025 (UTC)

I am re-requesting rollback after being denied around the end of December for not being consistent enough in RC patrol to meet the criteria. I understand that now and have come back with hopefully having reverted obvious and blatant vandalism more consistently over the past month. As always, I assume good faith, and when it comes to recent changes, if I see something that I'm not quite sure is vandalism or not, I won't undo it. I am well-versed in the different warning templates and when to use each one, and I know when it is appropriate to report to WP:AIV. Rollback will help me quickly undo the very obvious and problematic vandalism that I might catch on RC. Fishy-Finns (talk) 19:43, 26 January 2025 (UTC)
