Sarchehan Rural District

Sarchehan Rural District (Persian: دهستان سرچهان) is in the Central District of Sarchehan County, Fars province, Iran. Its capital is the village of Siyahun.

At the National Census of 2006, its population (as a part of the former Sarchehan District of Bavanat County) was 5,002 in 1,211 households. There were 2,925 inhabitants in 776 households at the following census of 2011. At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 3,703 in 1,156 households. The most populous of its 63 villages was Jamalabad, with 724 people.

After the census, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Sarchehan County and divided into the Central District containing Tujerdi Rural District, Sarchehan Rural District, and the cities of Hesami and the new capital, Korehi; and Bagh Safa District containing Bagh Safa Rural District and the new Arzhang Rural District. The county was further divided later when Tujerdi Rural District was separated from the Central District to establish Tujerdi District, which was divided into two rural districts including the new Marvashkan Rural District. At the same time, Hesami Rural District was established in the Central District and the capital of the county was moved from Korehi to Hesami.
